So the Dolphins host the division leading Bears tonight with their season on the line!

What I like most about the Bears chances, Tyler Thigpen.

What I like best about the Dolphins chances, its in Miami! And Cutler is good at finding open DBs.

What is the most important thing about tonight, thank goodness its in Miami where they actually have cheerleaders!!!!

Wade fired, twitter knew an hour before he did

So I and a trillion others knew Wade Phillips had been fired about an hour earlier than the Cowboys coaching staff knew. I had at least 5 different conversations with people about the firing before Phillips found out. All of Texas, Facebook and Twitter knew.

This is amazing and proof that the world is faster than ever and you need a twitter account to keep up. Or just wait to have Dan Rather tell ya...


Anyway, I found it a fascinating day. I follow many sports reporters. Jay Glazer (@Jay_Glazer) and Adam Schefter (@Adam_Schefter) seem to me to be the guys who most often break the news. Today it was a local Dallas sports reporter. Bill Jones, a reporter for CBS 11 in Texas had it first. To follow along was fascinating. To hear of Wade being shocked and visibly upset an hour after it had been reported shows the seismic shift in reporting.

I was very impressed with Schefter and Glazer for not reporting what they could not confirm. The rumors were everywhere. Amazing day.

The Phillies and Reds start the NL playoffs shortly! The Phils are RED HOT (see pic) and look ready to add a trophy to there collection!

But the Reds have played some good baseball this season so who knows, after all this is baseball!

The Phils announced that Polanco is out of Game 1, and Rollins has been hitting more like Larry Bowa lately, but with all that said...Halladay at home for Game 1, Oswalt at home for Game 2 means Votto and the Reds will need some lucky breaks for sure!

Chapman may hit 105 mph but you have to expect a Phillies NLCS...right?

Breakups are hard

The Moss trade was fascinating to follow yesterday on twitter. It seems Fox Sports and NFL Network reporter Jay Glazer and ESPN's Adam Schefter both were trying to break this story. And....Jay and Adam both seemed to break the the Marshawn Lynch trade story earlier in the day.

On my twitter feed I had Glazer then Schefter a few minutes later reporting the Lynch to Seattle deal. A contact of mine told me he had Schefter's info first. Either way it was fun watching the trade and reporting and the drama!

For my take on it, I think they are both amazing reporters and I will follow them as they break news for us. Perhaps ESPN got the info that Jay reported, perhaps they both have similar sources. I have no idea.

But I know the fans win with these two reporting for us!

As for the trade...when did Moss last have an 100 yard game? Maybe this week will get him back on track!

The Rangers and the Rays get us going with the playoffs this morning/afternoon! Will Josh Hamilton be back to form? Will David Murphy play? Will Cliff Lee pitch like the former Cliff Lee?

Will the Rays youngsters play like champs? Will Longoria break out abd become a national superstar? Can David Price pitch lights out in the post season too? Will anyone in Tampa show up?

Winer Winner Special Teams gets a dinner!

 NEVER MIND! San Diego's SPECIAL teams have now cost them 2 games out of the first 3! While I expect them to still win the West, will this cost them home field? An extra game? Perhaps they now won't win the West? The schedule is still soft as is the division, but it is hard to imagine this not costing them at some point.

Rivers attitude did not make them 1-2, their kickoff return defense did!

Charlie Batch! What can we say? Here is what we can say...Big Ben is OVER RATED! He got drafted my a great team with a great system and he has been the lucky one to be there while they get it done around him!This team could win with Ryan Leaf at QB!

The weekend has been fun, full of surprises as always! Hartley and Janikowski misses cost their teams wins...Vick puts it in the end zone 4 times...the Giants look horrid...the Rams win a game....and we still have 2 games left!

Battle for the West Coast

While we love Pete Carroll, listening to the experts rail on about Rivers and the Chargers getting beat because of Rivers attitude is just dumb! Listen, 3 weeks ago the Chargers were Super Bowl contenders and the Seahawks were in the race for the #1 pick! Rivers is not hated, not even close!

Doing things in the rain!

What has changed in two weeks? Not a thing but opinions! OK, SD lost a big nationally televised game, and Seattle has not stunk, but Rivers should torch the weak Seattle D and all will be well in SD again! 

Seattle is going the right way....up! But not this Sunday...not yet!

The Battle for Texas!

This is a big game for the Cowboys...and the Texans....and every red blooded boy in the State of Texas! I expect the Boys to get back on track, we shall see!

 Expect Romo to play big in Houston! Bryant, although banged up, is ready to break out, and Witten, also banged up last week, could do well against the Texans! Schaub and AJ are studs, but I expect the Cowboys to save the season today!

Game of the Day! Boise State and Oregon State

Flexibility is good

 The big game today is BCS buster's Boise State hosting Oregon State! The experts all over the TV are saying Boise needs to win by 50 to matter! WHATEVER! These guys are GOOD!

This is a good game, these are good teams, Boise is ELITE! If they win, which I expect, they are what we already know they are....a top 5 team in the nation!

I will be watching the blue turfers and rooting even! It was and is a great story!

Listening to the experts rail on about Boise having to win huge is silly! The Pac 10 is solid, a win against a solid Mike Riley team is a big deal....period! I do not get the small school's lack of respect. I hope a nice result today ends that...I know it won't.

Is it hard to imagine in a scenario like this Dana White being interviewed by Katie Couric let alone all the non-mma sports reporters? Maybe even Senator McCain would start throwing bombs at us!
